I don’t simply speak at your conference, I tell stories that are powerful and relatable and hold the audience’s attention. My job when speaking is to inspire and inform, to educate and amuse.
I am comfortable and adept at speaking either alone on a stage, or as part of a panel. I am happy to Chair events or deliver a keynote. I am equally able to speak in person or via a video link, or to be a guest or specialist in your podcast.
I speak about, amongst many things:
My journey from the corporate world into that of successful entrepreneur
Using genuine stories to illustrate the path I took and the mistakes I made. I am happy to talk about the decisions I made, the hurdles I encountered and sometimes overcame and the experience of being an ‘Internet pioneer’.
Leadership and team building
Calling upon more than 40 years of building and leading teams I talk about the fashions I have seen come and go, the examples of good and bad leadership I have seen, and sometimes suffered from, and the essential components of what makes and binds a great team together in business.
Every story he tells is woven with characters and humour but is related to an aspect of business that his audience wants to hear about. By using this style of presentation, he and his topics are both memorable and engaging.
Business-to-Business Sales and Marketing
A self-confessed “learning by doing” salesman and marketer I speak knowledgeably about what I have found works, but also what doesn’t, and frankly becomes annoying to your prospects and clients.
Procurement and Supply Chain
I have an extensive knowledge of these worlds, having spent many years as a buyer and supply chain director I speak with authority on these topics and present my views for what the future holds for us by calling on the experiences of the past.
Podcasts
I take part in many podcasts, talking about various business related subjects. Here are a selection of the my recent appearances.
Testimonials
“Garry’s infectious enthusiasm inspired and kept the master’s students captivated throughout the talk. A unique opportunity to hear the real story of business launch, growth and exit from someone who lived it and led it. Real-life entrepreneurial knowledge coupled with captivating storytelling.”
Dr Dimitrios Dousios – Lecturer in Entrepreneurship, Course Leader MSc Enterprise and Business Creation, University of East Anglia
“Garry has spoken at, and chaired, several major conferences I have organised. Not only is he evidently, and always, on top of his brief, but he is a truly compelling speaker. He has an easy delivery style and quickly engages with his audience and any panellists. I would also add that his input into the content and nuance of the subject matter has been very helpful to me personally.”
Robert Jervis – Event Director, Clarion Events
“Garry immediately captured my attention with his ability to share powerful, relatable stories that gave context to his presentation and brought the story to life. I always enjoy hearing Garry present as his no nonsense, honest and value driven approach always leaves me buzzing with ideas and ready to take on the world. Whether it be business growth, procurement or general business advice Garry is always willing to share his opinion, back it up and then expand on where he has seen this in action. He always seems to have his finger on the pulse of what’s going on!”
Nathan Lomax – Founder, Quickfire Digital
“…he did an excellent job in explaining the theory and practice of online procurement, encouraging some students to undertake projects in the subject and, in some cases, even pursue careers in the sector. Industry speakers like Garry can make a subject like logistics come alive and very effectively complement the more academic teaching that I and my colleagues deliver.”
Prof Alan McKinnon, Professor of Logistics, Kuehne Logistics University, Hamburg
Professor Emeritus, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh
