Following a successful corporate career with Mars, Incorporated, where I led teams in charge of procurement and logistics on both regional and global stages, I discovered my knack for Intrapreneurship.
Amidst the ‘dot com’ boom of the late 1990s, I conceptualised, constructed, and designed one of the first online logistics businesses, marking my footprint as one of the forerunners of the internet business age. This business, Freight Traders, merged in 2006 with another software startup in Sweden, Trade Extensions, paving the way for my journey as an Entrepreneur.
Trade Extensions evolved into a global leader in sourcing optimisation software, proudly securing an enviable client list inclusive of IKEA, WalMart, Diageo, P&G, and Unilever. As the CEO of this firm, I manoeuvred it towards a rewarding exit, selling it to a Silicon Valley ‘Unicorn’, Coupa Software, in 2016. The company continues to prosper under their auspices.
Persisting with my entrepreneurial voyage, I’ve been investing in, and offering guidance to several startups whilst maintaining board seats on them. It was during this time that I penned my first book ‘Simplify to Succeed’, a practical manual for initiating, fostering and disposing of companies.
More recently, I have expanded my literary portfolio by publishing my second book, ’50 Golden Rules: The Beginner’s Guide to Entrepreneurship’. Designed to guide individuals looking to establish their first business or expand their existing ones, it distils my years of entrepreneurial experience into 50 actionable steps.
I am continuously advising other entrepreneurs and delivering speeches at conferences and company events on the subjects of Intrapreneurship, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Sales and Procurement. In addition, with two books to my name, I aim to empower the next generation of entrepreneurs with the tools and insights to succeed in the ever-evolving business landscape.
Garry now focuses on entrepreneurship and helping others build and grow their own businesses.
He is especially interested in developing younger entrepreneurs and helping them become successful using rapid decision making and problem-solving techniques.
